Unlike a fan that blows hot air and more energy efficient than an air
conditioner, the appliance uses water to cool a personal space up to 12
degrees lower than the ambient temperature. The air cooler works by
endothermic reaction (a reaction that consumes heat). The unit sucks air
through a wick saturated with water; as the air flows through the wick,
some of the water evaporates into the air, consuming the heat that was
in the air. A cool air stream then gets blown out the front of the unit
through oscillating louvers for even distribution.
The appliance can also be used as just a fan or a humidifier when temperature is not an issue. Easily change the settings with the included remote control. The unit provides an air flow of 23 feet per second, a water-consumption rate of 0.6 to 0.7 liters per hour, and a 10-liter water-tank capacity. Other details include a nylon and photocatalystic filter, three air speeds, a sleep mode, and a timer that can be set from a half hour to seven-and-a-half hours. Though perfect for use in dry climates, please note that the appliance does not work very effectively in areas with high humidity since it utilizes water to cool.
